RED SOX TO USE LEFTY RELIEVER AS OPENER SATURDAY VS. TWINS

The Boston Red Sox, after losing to the Minnesota Twins in the series opener on Friday at Target Field, are preparing for Game 2, and they've made a decision on who will get the start.

According to Christopher Smith, Boston will use lefty reliever Brennan Bernardino as an opener on Saturday.

Bernardino has been great so far this season, giving up just one run in his 10 appearances this season. He was used as an opener a couple of weeks back against the Cleveland Guardians, and he threw two scoreless, hitless innings while allowing just one walk and striking out two.

Luckily, the Red Sox saved their bullpen on Friday by relying on Tanner Houck and Naoyuki Uwasawa as their only two arms, so the rest of the group should be available if needed on Saturday.
