THE PHOENIX SUNS HAVE HIRED THE HIGHEST-PAID ASSISTANT COACH IN NBA

The Phoenix Suns hired Frank Vogel to be the team's new head coach, and they're doing everything they can to make Vogel comfortable in his new role.

One of the biggest values the Suns wanted to establish was a sense of continuity, and they're doing exactly that by keeping associate head coach Kevin Young on Vogel's staff.

Compared to what other assistants in the NBA make, they had to pay a lot of money to do it.

The Suns retained Young on a deal worth $2 million annually, making him the highest paid assistant in the NBA.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns wanted to keep Young - no matter the cost - instead of having him join Monty Williams in Detroit.

Young is also said to have a strong relationship with star player Devin Booker, another great reason to keep him around.

Young has interviewed for multiple jobs around the league in recent years, including head coaching positions with the Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards.

This offseason, the Bucks, Raptors, Rockets and even the Suns considered him for their head coaching jobs, showing just how highly he is thought of around the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns may look different next season, with players like DeAndre Ayton and Chris Paul possibly leaving the team, but there will be some holdover on the coaching staff.
