NFL WORLD REACTS TO HUGE BILLS NEWS

The Buffalo Bills agreed to terms with former Top 10 pick Ed Oliver on Saturday to a new, five-year contract extension. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Oliver and the Bills agreed to a deal worth $68 million and $45 million guaranteed.

Buffalo’s decision to extend Oliver’s contract comes as no real surprise. Despite dealing with injuries in 2022, the former ninth-overall pick has led a productive career in the NFL. He’s recorded 14.5 sacks and 151 total tackles in his career.

The deal ensures that Oliver will be in Buffalo for the next six seasons. The former Houston Cougars star had one year remaining on his contract that the team kicked in through the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. Oliver has gotten the work done in the trenches as he’s proved to be a strong defensive tackle in his first four years in the NFL.

After the deal was announced, the NFL world chimed in with their thoughts.

A Buffalo Bills podcast speculated that the team might not be done yet.

Bleacher Nation Bears provided a note to Chicago Bears fans and fans of 30 other teams: Ed Oliver belongs to the Bills, not your team.

Another Bills personality said they think there’s both “risk AND upside” in this deal for both sides.

And will Ed Oliver’s signing lead to Quinnen Williams getting what he wants? The fellow 2019 NFL draftee and AFC East neighbor with the New York Jets has desired a new contract, too.
