FORMER NOTRE DAME STAR SAM HARTMAN REPORTEDLY SIGNS LARGE UDFA DEAL

Sam Hartman went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, but it seems like the former Notre Dame star has found a good spot for himself regardless.

According to NFL Networks' Tom Pelissero, the Washington Commanders gave Hartman one of the largest guarantees of any undrafted free agent: a $20,000 signing bonus and $225,000 guaranteed salary.

"A sign Hartman is in Washington’s plans for 2024," Pelissero tweeted Sunday morning.

Jayden Daniels, picked second overall on Thursday night, is the Commanders' franchise quarterback of the present and future, and Washington also signed veteran Marcus Mariota earlier this offseason.

That pair will occupy the top two spots on the team's QB depth chart, but beyond that, the Commanders only have Jeff Driskel and Jake Fromm. Hartman has more upside than either of those guys, making him an ideal potential developmental option for Washington in 2024.

After spending his first five seasons at Wake Forest, where he threw for 12,967 yards, 110 touchdowns and 41 interceptions, Hartman transferred to Notre Dame for his sixth year of college football.

He started all 12 regular season games for the Fighting Irish in 2023, passing for 2,689 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions while also rushing for 123 yards and three scores.
