NO. 5 QUARTERBACK RECRUIT KJ LACEY ANNOUNCES COMMITMENT

Texas continues to welcome high-caliber quarterback talent.

K.J. Lacey, the No. 5 ranked quarterback in the 2025 class, announced his commitment to head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns on Saturday.

Lacey chose Texas over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and more.

"Hook’Em 1000% committed," he wrote in an announcement on Twitter.

Texas is entering this coming season with former five-star recruit Quinn Ewers as its likely starting quarterback. No. 1 overall recruit Arch Manning is also heading into his freshman season after his commitment to UT. The Longhorns also have their QB for the 2024 class in three-star signal caller Trey Owens.

According to 247Sports, Lacey is a four-star recruit and the No. 70 overall recruit in the 2025 class. The rising junior from Saraland, Alabama has two more high school seasons before he joins Texas' 2025 class.

Lacey was in Austin to attend the Longhorns' preseason camp on Saturday.
